Spiritsin Chinese Brushes, also known as Qi Hou Biliu, is an upcoming Chinese animation that has been generating a lot of buzz. The announcement of this highly anticipated donghua was made during Bilibili’s 2022 annual event, and it was further confirmed during the Bilibili Conference on September 26, 2023.

This new donghua is scheduled for release on October 28, 2023, Spiritsin Chinese Brushes will be available on Bilibili‘s official page, as well as other donghua websites like Mundo Donghua, MyAnimeLive, and Bilibili’s official YouTube channel.
In some sources, such as the official English leg of Bilibili, this donghua is listed as Spirits in Chinese Brushes, a title that sounds rather accurate compared to Spiritsin Chinese Brushes. After all, the novel where it is based is titled that way too.
Drawing inspiration from urban fantasy atmospheres, Spiritsin Chinese Brushes shares similarities with popular series like Hitori no Shita: The Outcast and The Lost Tomb Chronicle: Qinling Sacred Tree. It was adapted from a novel by Ma Boyong, this Chinese anime offers a unique twist on a common plot, reminiscent of the literary antics found in the Country of Rare Treasures, another Chinese donghua from Bilibili which aired a few years ago.
Synopsis
The story revolves around Luo Zhongxia, an ordinary college student who stumbles upon Li Bai’s Qinglian Relic Pen, granting him extraordinary powers. However, danger looms as various factions seek to possess the pen’s immense power. Luo Zhongxia must navigate this treacherous landscape and find a way to return the pen before it falls into the wrong hands.

This new fantasy and school donghua featured the voices of Li Jiaxiang as Luo Zhongxia, Shan Xin as Wei Xiaorong, Zheng Enze as Yan Zheng, and Zhao Mengjiao as Zhuge Shijiu.
